Since its inception in 1902, AAA has been the motorist’s voice in matters of legislation affecting highways and automobile travel. AAA played an instrumental role in securing the first federal aid for building highways in 1916. AAA also worked for years to promote the development of a nationwide network of super highways, a goal that was reached in 1956 when the interstate highway system was established. This great road system has greatly reduced travel times and the cost of operating automobiles. Today, AAA continues to champion the interests of motorists at all levels of government. We campaign for well-maintained roads and actively work to help keep taxation of motorists at a reasonable level. AAA supports a vast array of traffic safety measures, including legislation to curtail drunk driving, to promote the use of child restraints and safety belts, to remove unsafe drivers from the road, and to restrict big trucks to roads that can safely accommodate them.

AAA Ohio Auto Club’s Government Affairs area takes a proactive approach when dealing with issues that affect motorists. We constantly monitor the activities of the legislature and communicate our position on issues with federal, state and local governments and related agencies.

By keeping abreast of issues and keeping in touch with other AAA clubs and organizations with similar concerns, AAA Ohio Auto Club is able to speak with a credible voice and relay meaningful information to lawmakers.

AAA Exchange

The AAA Exchange was designed to foster communication between AAA and the 60 million members it represents. It is an extension of AAA’s long history of public service and provides a look into important traffic safety, consumer, automotive and travel issues.
